In order to determine the most popular vehicle modifications, the researchers analyzed the sales data at the car market in 2016 on six parameters: body type, engine type, engine volume, power, transmission, drive.

The sample for analysis in the mass segment was 1139 thousand machines sold in 2016 with new ones, it covers 86 models of the 21st brand. Among all modifications, the largest proportion (23.4%) fell on front-wheel drive sedans with a gasoline engine of 1.0 to 2.0 liters, with a capacity of 100 to 149 hp. and manual gearbox. The category of machines with a volume of 1.0 to 2.0 liters takes 68.3% of the total volume in the mass segment, on the machines with a motor from 2.0 to 3.0 liters accounted for 29.1%, from 3.0 to 4.0 liters — 1.8%. Motor cars with a volume of more than 4.0 liters occupy only 0.8% in the mass segment.

In the same segment, the greatest representation (up to 61.5%) have machines with a capacity of 100 to 149 liters. with., And the share of machines with a motor up to 100 liters. with. accounts for 20.6%.

The front-wheel drive cars have a share of 71.3%, and the machines with a full drive — 28.7%.

In the class of premium cars, experts analyzed the sale of about 135 thousand cars sold by new ones in 2016 (13 brands and 75 models). The study of body type showed that in the premium segment in the first place there are SUVs with a share of 69.2%, and in the second and third — sedans (21.6%) and coupe (4.1%). Hatchbacks and universals occur respectively 3.8% and 1.2%.
