Modern fuel injection systems in gasoline and diesel engines work with extremely high pressures, which sometimes exceed 5000 bar. Pollution in the form of mineral particles or organic substances, falling into fuel injection system, can lead to serious damage to both gasoline and diesel engines. The filter also performs an additional function of removing free and emulsified water from fuel. A large amount of water in the fuel is extremely negatively affected by a high-pressure system, leading to corrosion and insufficient lubrication of such components of the injection system, like a fuel pump, fuel distributors and fuel injectors.

Three versions for pure fuel
The screw filter, perhaps, once the most popular form factor for filters, is an enclosure filter, usually located in the engine compartment or under the engine between the fuel tank and the engine, and is replaced as a single integer during maintenance. In addition to standard interchangeable filters for passenger cars, filters with a plug for drain drain and the discharge valve are also common.
Unlike the screw filters, the filter elements do not have the case, and when replacing it is necessary to change only the insertion itself. Linear fuel filters are particularly suitable for use in modern gasoline injection systems and can be equipped with additional pressure regulators and thermostatic valves.
The fuel filter provides long-term engine protection under the condition of its timely replacement. Otherwise, the filter can be closed as a result of long-term use, increasing fuel resistance and not allowing a sufficient amount of fuel to fall into the injection system, which leads to a decrease in performance, problems with the start and poor-quality spraying of the nozzles. In addition, the resulting incorrect air-fuel ratio increases fuel consumption and emission levels.
