Globalization in the global aircraft leads to the formation of manufacturers alliances. Moreover, often the composition of such alliances is quite unusual. The ghost of the consolidation of the world auto industry has reached Russia: the leading domestic manufacturer of trucks KAMAZ and the domestic group «Sollers» announced the possible creation of the alliance.

Against the background of instability of demand for cars, including in Russia, large companies together it is easier to optimize the costs of components, to unify production processes, distribute distribution, exchange technologies. As the experience of the above-mentioned Renault-Nissan alliance showed, the stability of such unions is extremely large, because each of its members receives a lot. Today in the world automotive industry, in addition to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, another global alliance formed. We are talking about the Union of the Italian-American Group FCA (Fiat and Chrysler) and the French PSA Group.
If the Franco-Japanese group for 20 years of existence felt the effect of the alliance synergies, then the new alliance still remains to construct an internal model of the interaction and distribution of roles and add specialization within such a heterogeneous group.
And the effects will necessarily. This is visible on the example of our country and our car industry. Designed by the Japanese from Nissan gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 liters under the HR16 index is used for cars of all brands included in the alliance. Its participants quickly disappointed and their ways were separated. But in memory of this Alliance, the engines 2.0 and 2.4 were developed at the beginning of the last decade. These motors are installed on both Hyundai and the KIA related brand since 2004, and if you recall the history of the Korean automaker, then immediately everything will fall into place. Created then in the Alliance 2.4 GDI engine turned out to be not only quite reliable, but also long-livers. Motor 2.4 GDI with a capacity of 184 hp With direct injection and phase traffickers on both camshafts are installed not only on the Sportage crossover, but also familiar to two other KIA cars — a larger Sorento Prime crossover and an Optima sedan. Similarly, these two engines are used in the Hyundai Model Line.
What attracts KAMAZ and Sollers?
It was recently announced that the largest Russian manufacturer of KAMAZ trucks and one of the leading manufacturers of passenger and light commercial cars «Sollers», want to create an alliance. Project details are still unknown: it is stated that a road map of the development of a new association will be presented by the end of the year.
This was reported to the newspaper Vedomosti. A fundamental decision on the creation of an alliance with Sollers is accepted. The desire to create an alliance is, the question is in working out. The idea of creating an alliance is already represented by the supervising auto industry of the Government Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov and the leadership of the Ministry of Industry RF. They do not mind.
Now the roadmap of the future alliance is being formed. At the first stage of the company, companies intend to implement joint investment projects in the production of automotive components and the development of new technologies, digital transformation in marketing and sales. Also interesting joint procurement — the effect of scale will save. It will be useful for joint ventures that Sollers and Kamaz.
KAMAZ has long been an interest in the promising segment of light commercial vehicles: at the end of last year, information about his project of a small car «Compass» was leaked to the press, which, having a load capacity of 1.5-2.2 tons, aims to capture LCV market share, and Sollers as a partner of development in this direction is ideal. Namely, his essence is this. This thought, a few years ago, announced Adil Shirinov, who occupied the post of first vice president and executive director of Ford-Sollers, and now he is the leader of the Sollers group.
Today, the company has 300 localized components from 70 domestic suppliers. But if you analyze the structure of the component base, the following picture is evaporated: the raw material for the production and components of the 2nd and 3rd level, in the overwhelming number will be foreign. Thus, in domestic, according to its origin, autocomponents laid the currency component of the price. Shrinov then noted that in the country there are simply no production of many source species of raw materials for the production of autocomponents, for example, such as rod-containing and stainless steel grades, a number of polymers, rubber mixtures. The enterprises of the autocomponent industry are forced to use about 60% of import steel varieties, in the presence of powerful domestic metallurgy, 90% of raw materials for polymers, rubber mixtures, etc.
Adil Shirinov then urged automakers to discuss this problem with suppliers from related industries and localize the raw materials component as much as possible.
In the interests of the state, consider this issue and coordinate the actions of participants from different industries, as this will lead to the creation of new industries, jobs, new competencies and technologies. In turn, the pricing factor of autocomponents will be fluent in the currency component to a lesser extent.
The widths then urged automakers to work on a highly localized product line. He noted that this is a trunk path of not only a separate automaker, but also the entire automotive industry of the country. Now it is clear why Kamaz and Sollers want to create an alliance.
